6-Carpet-Cleaning-Tips-For-Stain-Removal

Carpets provide cozy softness and added warmth underfoot, but can also make your floors stain-prone. Even without children or pets, the occasional spill or smudge can quickly seep into the fibers of your carpets and become a set-in stain. Cleaning carpet stains may appear daunting, but with the right technique and cleaning solutions, you can remove even the most stubborn stains.

Despite your best efforts, your carpet will likely become the victim of a slew of drops, spills, and stains. It is recommended to consult a professional carpet cleaning service to deal with carpet-related dilemmas. In between professional carpet cleaning, here are 6 tips for learning how the pros handle their carpet cleaning and spillage problems.

Blot The Stain Rather Than Scrub

We are too accustomed to scrubbing surfaces when cleaning them, from our dining tables to the tiles in your bathroom. While this is a good technique for those types of surfaces, it is not a good idea to scrub carpet stains. That’s because when you scrub a stain, whether it’s from food like spaghetti or a drink like red wine, you spread it to a larger surface.

Rubbing causes the stain particles to penetrate deeper into the carpets fibers, making it even more challenging to remove naturally. Always blot from the outside of the stain inwards to avoid spreading the stain.

If the stain is too stubborn, it is best to call upon expert carpet stain removal specialists for the job.

Make Use Of A Carpet Stain Remover

Apply a carpet stain remover to any remaining stains, following the manufacturer’s application instructions. A vinegar solution can also be used to clean the carpet. Stir one teaspoon of mild dishwashing liquid into 1 quart of warm water, then add 14 teaspoons of white vinegar and apply to the carpet stain. For whichever carpet cleaner you use, be careful not to over-wet the stain, as this can damage the backing. Allow for a 10-minute resting period.

Try Using Warm Water

Most common carpet stains caused by household food and beverages (that do not contain strong dyes) can be treated immediately with warm (not hot) water applied to the carpet stain. Dampen a clean cloth with warm water and blot it on the stain, working from the outside until it disappears.

Consult the label attached below the carpet to clean the rug according to the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

Club Soda

If you have a beer or wine stain (especially red wine), club soda can be extremely effective if used correctly. To begin, place some soda on a cloth and gently blot the area, as described above. If this does not completely remove it, fill a spray bottle with 1 part white vinegar and 1 part water and spray the affected area. Allow the cleaner to sit for 10-15 minutes before placing a clean cloth on top and gently pressing down. Repeat the process if necessary.

Don’t Walk On The Carpet Until It’s Completely Dry

Cover the mark with a chair or coffee table, no one is to walk on the carpet until it is completely dry. Allow as much time as possible; the carpet may feel dry to the touch, but the pad beneath it may still be damp. You can speed up the process by using a hair dryer, but be careful not to overheat the area and scorch your carpet.

Act Quick

Get to any spills as soon as possible to prevent the stain from penetrating the carpet fibres and causing discoloration and marks. Hot liquids, in particular, can be challenging to remove the satin once it has cooled. It is best to act rapidly when a stain occurs, as a clean cloth can soak it up before it is soaked into the textures of the carpet.
